It is well known that the employment of people with disabilities, especially when compared to those without disabiities, is significantly inbalanced.

According to recent reports, the unemployment rate is dropping steadily for people with disabilities. A study by Allsup, a nationwide provider of SSDI representation reports the rate has reached its lowest level since the fourth quarter of 2008.
During the fourth quarter of 2012, the unemployment rate averaged 12.4 percent for people with disabilities and 7.3 percent for people with no disabilities. This compares to 13.7 percent for people with disabilities and 7.9 percent for people with no disabilities during the third quarter of 2012.

A new video public service announcement has been released by the Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP). The video titled "Because" features people with disabilities who are pursuing their career goals as a result of the support they receive. The PSA is meant to encourage others to do what they can to support their efforts. It also will help others understand that people with disabilities are capable employees.
