The study, performed by the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research, tested 6,401 patients, 53 percent of which were normal weight, 38 percent overweight and 9 percent obese, over a period of a decade for cognitive ability. Over the years, participants underwent a selection of cognitive tests, including assessed reasoning, short-term memory, and verbal fluency.

Spencer West is an activist and motivational speaker from Toronto, Canada. When he was 5-years old his legs were amputated because of a rare genetic disorder he was born with called sacral agenesis. According to The Star, West mother, Tonette, said, "Doctors told us when he was a baby that he would never do much with his life, ...They said he should stick to activities like reading and writing."
