A Cure for Cerebral Palsy through Stem Cell Treatments (Video)
Stem Cell Research is reaching new heights in its quest to find ways to cure diseases and injuries in the nervous system. In America places such as Duke University are studying the effects of Cord Blood taken from the child's umbilical cord at birth.
They have been successful in reversing debilitating issues caused by Cerebral Palsy in children. In one child, 85% of her function was restored through Stem Cell Transplants. Unfortunately, the FDA has not approved the use of donated Stem Cells in research. This means if a child's own Cord Blood was not stored when they were born. They would not be eligible to participate.
In other countries though, such as China, they have begun the use of donated Stem Cells with great results. This video describes the story of one such success story.
