Motorcyclist with MS Begins One Million Mile Journey for MS Awareness

picture of Paul PellandPaul Pelland, who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2005 after experiencing weakness and numbness in his hands as well as cognitive difficulties, will attempt to ride one million miles, attending and speaking at various MS patient events across the United States. Along the way, Paul will also be attempting various long distance challenges and records. Next spring he will attempt to break a record by riding 50,000 miles in 50 days, all in the name of MS. Before getting his diagnosis, Paul was a top ten finisher of the Ironbutt Rally, an 11 day 11,000 mile motorcycle endurance event known as, "The World's Toughest Motorcycle Competition."

"Long Distance Riding is never about speed, but my Endless Road Tour is definitely a race." Paul states, "It's a race against time. My ability clock is ticking."

Multiple Sclerosis is a progressive autoimmune disease that attacks the central nervous system. There is no cure.

The entire journey will be chronicled in real time on the website http://www.longhaulpaul.com."Everything will be fair game," says Paul, who only recently made his diagnosis public. "Subscribers of my blog will see my successes and my failures, when I laugh, and when I cry. I will post every breakdown, whether they be mine or the bike's!"

Doubters of this man's abilities to overcome impossible challenges or entertain readers with his quick wit or at times tear jerking humor, need to look no further than Paul's miraculous finish of the 2001 Ironbutt Rally and his account of it, "Against a Slight Breeze", now republished on his website as well.

Paul has received great response from the MS and motorcycle communities. He is relying on donations to support the cost of this epic journey. Many in the motorcycle community have donated gear and equipment. Bikes, maintenance, fuel, tires, and lodging are the biggest expenses. When asked which motorcycle he will be riding during this epic adventure, Paul is quick to answer, "I'm waiting for the manufacturer with the biggest heart to step forward!"

More about Paul and his Endless Road Tour can be found at http://www.longhaulpaul.com.
